Aww how wonderful a squirrel feeding from your fingers. Love it!

    • 24/01/2011 1:08 pm

Actually we were surrounded by squirrels only I wasn’t quick enough to get them all in one photo

  2. 23/01/2011 9:40 am

There was a chorus of Ahhhh’s when we saw this. Lovely.

Oh excellent! Is that a red squirrel? Or am I just hoping?

    • 24/01/2011 1:10 pm

Ah….you got me there as I couldn’t tell you. Danson Park in Bexley – maybe it mentions them on their website???

  5. 23/01/2011 10:51 am

Ah wow! How close is he?? Brilliant 🙂

    • 24/01/2011 1:10 pm

They are very quick though, I had to take lots and lots of photos before I got a good one 🙂

That is an excellent photo 🙂 Jen

Lovely shot, they do get brave when nuts on offer!

    • 24/01/2011 1:11 pm

They certainly do…the ravens and pigeons weren’t as bold, they were standing back waiting to come in after we’d left

  8. 23/01/2011 12:38 pm

    Oh sweet, lovely little face!

    • 24/01/2011 1:12 pm

I thought you meant me there for a moment 🙂 He is a cutie isn’t he?

What an amazing picture! I can’t believe how tame the squirrel is AND that you managed to capture it! x

    • 24/01/2011 1:13 pm

Don’t be fooled! I took loads and loads of tails, ears and blurs before I got that one x

I know it’s not very socially acceptable to admit, but I love squirrels! Yes, I know they’re rodents, and people call them tree rats, but they just have the cutest little faces and teeny twitchy noses. I used to put walnuts outside my kitchen window to feed one that lived in a tree outside my flat. Does that make me a bit strange. Maybe. Still love squirrels though!!! x

I certainly prefer squirrels to foxes after the recent news of how they are attacking us. I must admit I was worried about the girls getting fleas or nits or something from them but we didn’t

Ah what an awesome capture!! I used to love doing this as a kid but never had a camera to snap a pic..fabulous 😀

    • 24/01/2011 1:16 pm

Me too, and the ducks as well, but squirrels are quicker and it took me a long time..I almost ran out of battery!

cute isn’t it? I was really pleased with myself after getting that shot 😀

  13. 23/01/2011 7:02 pm

    Oh wow – how cute!

    • 24/01/2011 1:18 pm

…you try teaching little ones to ‘wait and let the squirrel come to you.’ It didn’t work – they weren’t going to get that instruction ever but a lot of fun was had and the squirrels were left with very fat bellies!

  14. 23/01/2011 7:30 pm

    How adorable=) and trusting=) x

    • 24/01/2011 1:19 pm

I think they’ve been there for a very long time but I only just found out about them a short while back. It will now become a regular day out there

  15. 23/01/2011 8:46 pm

Wow, that’s amazing! So cute, although actually I’d have been worrying about whether he was going to nip my finger…

    • 24/01/2011 1:30 pm

Yeah, I worried about that but they don’t take the nut with their mouths but with their fingers so there is no contact at all

  16. 24/01/2011 1:52 pm

That’s so cute! But, like imperfectpages, squirrels make me a little nervous too!

it’s so wonderful when that type of interaction between people and animals happens and so terrible that we so often betray that trust!

  18. 24/01/2011 9:06 pm

    ooo, you’re brave 🙂

  19. 24/01/2011 9:12 pm

That is beautiful, i had an uncle who had a pet squirrel, it would sit on his shoulder all day long, we used to call it his Pickachu !! 🙂 love em !!

That’s very brave: they have very very sharp teeth! I have several squirrels here; they’re always eating the balls I put out for the birds. It used to annoy me but I love watching them now; they’re fantastically agile & determined
