The Gallery – Shapes

02/02/2011

What a miserable day to photograph shapes outside it was yesterday! I did manage to get out of the car in between rain showers and get these few shots but they would be so much nicer if the sun had been shining!

My first thought was of buildings as shapes, architecture and the first idea that came to my mind was London, the Gherkin, the London Eye, the Tate Modern, all my favourite haunts but no way could I get up to town yesterday so – oast houses, where there are plenty dotting our beautiful countryside so off I went in search of them and after numerous wrong turns, (why can you never find one when you’re looking for one?) I found this place which is in the process of being renovated…I would have liked to stand right under the roof and take a shot from below but didn’t think the owners would take too kindly to this idea.

A sight that has always fascinated me

On another note here is an example of the new buildings going up around the previously run down canal basin in an attempt to renovate the area and bring in new punters. Although now it looks bright and modern I always wonder how it will look in 20 years time. Will they have maintained the exterior or let it go?

Modern architecture

And lastly as I wasn’t over pleased with the outcome of the above I took this last photo. Shapes has always meant biscuit cutters and I dragged out a box from my old college days; a collection of biscuit cutters added to over the years and ready to be dusted off and put to use again with the girls….maybe for daddy for Valentines Day 🙂

Of course right now these are the shapes that keep the girls mostly amused but what a mess to deal with afterwards!

This post has been linked up with Tara’s The Gallery where I’m sure you’ll find plenty of other amazing takes on shapes. I really liked Tara’s Picture – what do you think?

Great take on shapes with some fab photos. I think my fav is the second one , I think it’s that gorgeous sky blue colour which caught my eye.

Cookie cutters are an excellent idea, I didn’t even think of that one and I have a whole drawer full!
